Microsoft Teams
Join us for a series of online events to discover the support Cardiff Council’s Into Work Advice Service and Youth Services can provide to help you explore what your next move is. This is your chance to ask any questions you have and how to register with the Into Work Advice Service to access employment support.
All sessions will be delivered via Microsoft Teams and links will be available below in advance of the event.

11am – 11.15am: Step By Step of Preparing for Employment
Delivered By: Chelsie James and Thomas Wools
The step by step into employment workshop is a full guide on how to engage with the ‘Into Work Advice Service’s projects for supporting Young People in Education, Training or Employment and how they will be supported by our Youth Employment Mentor team.

11.20am – 11.35am: Post 16 Youth Mentoring
An All You Need to Know. Young Person’s Guide.

A workshop that introduces the work of a Post 16 Youth Service Mentor and the benefits of engagement for young people. Featuring an audio Case Study of a young Person’s Youth Mentor Journey.

11.40am – 11.55am: LinkedIn Masterclass
Delivered by: Chelsie James and Thomas Wools
Throughout the LinkedIn masterclass you will learn how to use the platform, the benefits of being active on LinkedIn and how to get started today. This masterclass equips you with all the information you need to know to start today.

12.00pm – 12.15pm: Sixth Forms in Cardiff

Overview of Animation courses available and what employment or further qualifications they can lead to. Ask questions and explore your options.

1.00pm – 1.20pm: Get Into Construction
Delivered by: David Devonald & Joe Cicero
Information on free construction-related training courses and how to gain your CSCS card from Adult Learning. The session also gives an overview of the new CITB Construction Onsite Skills Hub

Overview of programming courses and employment available. A chance to ask questions and explore your options.

Introduction to future workshops to help with interviews. Looking at different types of interviews – online, group, 1:1. How Social Media can help with job search.

2.05pm – 2.30pm: Get Into Childcare and Health & Social Care

A look at different roles throughout the care sector and childcare sector. What qualifications you need and how we can help.

2.45pm – 3.00pm : Careers in the Council with Cardiff Works

Throughout ‘Careers in the Council with Cardiff Works’ you will learn about the opportunities we provide, the benefits of working for the Council & gain hints and tips about our application process. A Cardiff Works advisor will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have’.

A look at working in different types of call centres. Examples of courses you can take to help with your applications.

3.25pm – 3.40pm: How can volunteering help you with your ‘next move’?
Delivered by: Tony Wakeham
In these times where there are so many people applying for just one job, why not try volunteering? Many people have become volunteers as a way to give back, to meet friends and perhaps most importantly to enhance their CV and as a result to improve their employment prospects. Volunteering can be a way of sampling a work environment before actually starting work. So have you ever thought about Volunteering?
