Cardiff Council’s Into Work and Adult Learning teams provide local businesses with a complete pre-employment package. The teams can help to attract suitable, pre-assessed employment ready candidates.

In 2018/9 we assisted nearly 40,500 people from over 35 different locations with work-related activities and 211 employers to fill vacancies they had available across the city. In conjunction with the Job Centre, the teams hold 2 major jobs fairs every year, where thousands attend. They also hold numerous smaller job fairs in local communities.

Adult Learning Cardiff offer a range of flexible learning opportunities that are designed to support individuals to take their first steps back into learning, training or employment.

IntoWork - Helping employers find the right candidates

24,000 jobseekers
on our database searching for employment

Our jobseekers are either long term unemployed or are currently working but looking to upskill or change their career. Using our database, our team can identify individuals who have already achieved key competencies, and are looking to work within the required field. These candidates are then contacted individually about suitable job opportunities.

The Adult Learning team enrol 1,000 learners each academic term for the Learning for Work programme. Not only do the team then identify learners that are looking for specific work, they can also create bespoke pre-employment training (customer care, call centre, digital skills which can be accredited) delivered as per a detailed brief from the employer. This would be provided free of charge to the employer.

Employers Job recruitment

We can provide bespoke training and support with:

  • Assisting candidates to complete the job application and create a CV
  • CV sifting, pre assessment screening
  • Mentoring applicants to ensure they arrive to the interview well prepared
  • Holding mock interviews for candidates, including interview technique sessions
  • Providing employers with interview facilities and assessment centre venues
  • Advising and supporting employers in the selection process
  • Advertising opportunities on Social Media and high footfall buildings across the city

Cardiff Council can offer over 30 different locations spread around the city for employers to use free of charge for interviews, training and assessment.

In addition to all this, some candidates may be eligible for financial support if they are able to secure employment. These funds may be able to help them with the cost of training, travel costs, childcare, and clothes for work. The team would help to access this funding.
